First Annual Food Drive Concludes

12/20/2017

This holiday season, the Vogel Holding companies completed our first company-wide food drive. We placed 95-gallon containers at each business to collect our employees' donations of non-perishable foods and household goods.

The response was even warmer than we could have expected.

Employees at each company were thrilled to donate, knowing that their contributions would be used to help their neighbors and customers. The Vogel companies partnered with 412/724 Food Rescue, Grove City Community Food Pantry, and Second Harvest Food Bank of Mahoning Valley to collect and distribute to local food pantries, just in time for the holidays.

Becky Miller, Resource Development Manager for the Second Harvest Food Bank of Mahoning Valley, commented, "“We are so thankful for the gift of food from the Ohio Valley Waste Service team, especially during the holiday season when families long to celebrate together around the dinner table.  The food drive brought in over 100 pounds which we will distribute out to our neighbors in need throughout the Mahoning Valley.  We could not fulfill 15,000 weekly requests for food assistance without the generous support of our friends at Vogel.”

This year's food drive was inspired by the belief that supporting our communities, and our neighbors, is the cornerstone of our mission. We want our companies to be more than just a trash collection service, a landfill, or a recycling facility. We want to be a partner in our neighborhoods, helping make our communities stronger.

We thank all of our employees, as well as 412/724 Food Rescue, Grove City Community Food Pantry, and Second Harvest Food Bank of Mahoning Valley, for their generosity and support. We look forward to making this an annual tradition!
